Do I have the same rights as a car?

Yes, generally, cyclists have the same rights as motorists. The Florida law deems a bicycle to be a motor vehicle while it's riding on the roads in the state of Florida. Bear in mind, while having the same rights as a motorist, you still have the same responsibilities as a motorist. You have to adhere to all of the traffic laws and regulations. You have to stop at stoplights and stop signs. You have to signal when you're going to turn. Also, there are some special regulations for bicyclists where they have to yield to motorists under certain circumstances.
