What is contributory negligence or comparative responsibility?

What is contributory negligence or comparative responsibility and how does it affect my Florida bicycle injury claim?

Bicycles in Florida are considered vehicles, and Florida is a pure comparative negligence state. What that means is that if you are partially at fault or found by a jury or a judge to be partially to blame for the accident, if you recovered for instance $10,000 of damages and you were found to be 10% at fault, then that award would be reduced that 10%, or in this instance $1000, and then your recovery would be $9000.
