What are the legal distinctions between possession dealing and trafficking in controlled substances in Florida?

Generally, it has to do with the amount or the weight of the controlled substance that the individual has. If you have a small amount, it's generally going to be charged with simple possession, and that most likely would be a felony for all controlled substances other than marijuana. A trafficking amount is usually a larger amount of marijuana or other controlled substances that you have, and, depending on the weight that you have or is in your control, will depend on the severity of the crime. Trafficking a controlled substance can be punishable by minimum mandatory sentences of 3 years, 7 years, 15 years, or 25 years, or possibly up to life.
