Why it Helps to Hire a Criminal Defense Attorney

Posted by Michael G. Butash | Dec 06, 2017 | 0 Comments

One of the most popular rights for a United States citizen that is always being stressed to citizens are your Miranda Rights. There are many rights that were discussed in the Miranda V. Arizona case that have been extended to all citizens, one including the right to have an attorney present to represent you. Even though you have the right to one, many individuals choose to waive their right for a criminal defense attorney. Land O' Lakes residents should never represent themselves unless they already have some knowledge of laws and the legal system because there are many benefits to hiring the assistance of an attorney.

Hired Criminal Defense Attorneys Know Your Case

If you choose to waive your right to have an attorney, you must either represent yourself or have an attorney appointed to your case. Regardless of the situation, you or the attorney representing you in your case will not have the same background knowledge as your own hired criminal defense attorney. Land O' Lakes residents quickly find out that while public defenders are quite knowledgeable in many aspects of different crimes, they may not be knowledgeable for your case and more importantly, they may not have the same drive to represent you to the best of their ability unlike an attorney you hire. Many defense attorneys with their own practice have some sort of specialization.

Hiring a Criminal Defense Attorney May Save you Money

One popular reason why many defendants choose to represent themselves or use the assistance of a public defender is because they think it is too expensive to hire the assistance of a criminal defense attorney. Land O' Lakes residents however may end up paying more for their charges depending on the nature of their case. With the help of a defense attorney, defendants might be able to have their charges reduced or even dropped, making it worth the money it takes to hire an attorney.
