Everyone knows that after they have been involved in a car accident, Land o Lakes residents have a strong possibility that they will have to face legal issues with the other parties involved. Even though some of us would like to ignore the situation and forget about it, there are some instances of a car accident that cannot be avoided because they have no legal rights to do so. Even though in a car accident you are entitled to certain legal rights, there is also an equal amount of legality issues that cannot be avoided by an individual.
You Do Not Have the Right to Ignore a Car Accident
In the state of Florida, an individual is required to report if they or their vehicle have been involved in a car accident. Land o Lakes residents need to be aware that it is illegal not to report an accident under many circumstances, such as if there was more than five hundred dollars’ worth of property damage. In order to avoid legal ramifications, an individual has ten days to report an accident to the police, and they should do so sooner rather than later to further better their case and situation.
You Do Not Have the Right to Leave the Scene
Although this may sound like something no one would do when facing legal action, but some people under pressure or stress will leave the scene of a car accident. Land o Lakes residents are legally bound to the scene of the accident if there is property damages, injuries, or fatalities. If you are caught leaving the scene of an accident or are reported doing so, an individual face more legal action than they previously imagined. It is also customary to swap names and insurance information once you have been caught up in a car accident.
