Divorce Attorney Boyette

Divorce Attorney Boyette

While many people know what a divorce is, not too many people know the ins and outs of the divorce process, and what is considered normal or acceptable. One of more common aspects of divorce that is not acceptable that people think is okay is when two spouses want to use the same divorce attorney. Boyette residents might be under the impressions that because a divorce can be expensive, they can save money by utilizing the same lawyer, but this would be unprofessional for the lawyer to do so.

Sharing the Same Lawyer Creates a Conflict of Interests
The main reason why legal professionals would have a problem representing both clients in the same divorce case is because it creates a conflict of interest. This is when there is a significant risk to the lawyer’s ability to recommend or carry out the appropriate course of action for one client and not the other. When it comes to a divorce attorney, Boyette residents should know that even if they were given the same advice as their partner, them and their partner will not have the same outcome because it is up to the court to decide who gets what in a divorce case.

Even Uncontested Divorces Should Not Use the Same Legal Professional

While it may be easy for someone to see that there can be a conflict of interest in a contested divorce between two partners, many people falsely think that two people in an uncontested divorce can use the same divorce attorney. Boyette residents should know if two partners both agree that they should get a divorce and there are no hard feelings, they may want to consider hiring one mediator to help them through the process, as opposed to hiring a legal professional that specializes in representing people in a contested divorce. A mediator is a neutral third party that looks at the divorce objectively while a legal professional that specializes in divorces is trying their best to represent their client and get the most out of their divorce.
