How Do I Protect Myself Against an Order of Protections?

How do I defend myself against an order of protection?

The best way to defend yourself over an order of protection or domestic violence injunction is to seek the counsel of an attorney. The way it happens is as soon as you are served with an injunction it's temporary, because the court has just entered this injunction based solely upon the petition filed by the other party. Then in order to make sure the court is right, they set a final hearing within a week or two which is a trial where you are invited to show up to put in on your case and chief and the other party puts on their case and chief and the court determines whether or not to make it permanent. The best way to defend yourself through an attorney is the attorney will read through the injunction. Part of the injunction has a narrative portion where the petitioner writes in there what the reasons are. Why they want the injunction. Then the attorney should talk to you, figure out what is truth, what is untruth, and what witnesses we can use to poke holes in the story of the other side, to show that they're not being truthful. To put you in the best position in that trial to get the court to hopefully deny the injunction on a permanent basis..
