The SCRAM bracelet is a bracelet that you wear around your ankle that will determine whether or not you have consumed any alcohol. It is generally set at a .02 setting. Now, a SCRAM bracelet could be ordered by the court for you to wear as a condition of pre-trial release to make sure that you haven’t been drinking. If you’re arrested and the judge orders you not to consume any alcohol, that’s a way for the judge to make sure that you haven’t consumed any alcohol. Furthermore, if the judge orders this as a condition of any type of probation, it’s usually in lieu of jail. It’s a way for your attorney to negotiate with the state and/or the judge to possibly keep you out of jail by offering you to wear the SCRAM bracelet instead of going to jail.
