What is no fault insurance?
No-fault insurance in Florida is also commonly referred to as personal injury protection or PIP for short. What it is is basically, regardless as to who’s at fault for the car accident, your own insurance policy will pay for up to $10,000 of your own medical bills. Now what’s interesting about PIP is that it follows the person. If you are involved in a car accident and you’re a passenger in that car, you will generally receive $10,000 or up to $10,000 of medical benefits through your own insurance policy. It’s also very important for you to seek medical attention within 14 days of the date of the accident, or you risk losing that ability to recover under your PIP benefits.
